 Why Choose Us?

  • Discovery Village Academy is more than a preschool, it is a whole child learning center that combines a top notch education with opportunities to play and learn in a safe and welcoming environment.
  • We are small company owned by two local moms, our mission is to provide high quality preschool education which fosters a love of learning.
  • Our staff is carefully curated!  All of our teachers are college graduates and most of our assistants are pursuing education degrees.  We invest in our staff by providing them ongoing training and building paid planning time into their schedules.
  •  We do not do auctions or fundraisers, your tuition bill is the only money we will ask for.
  •  Our team includes Dr. Maureen Turner, a licensed clinical psychologist, who specializes in identifying causes of learning, attention, social, behavioral and emotional difficulties for children. She acts a resource for parents and teachers and provides monthly question and answer sessions for Discovery Village parents.
  •  Membership to Discovery Village is included for our student's families along with a 10% discount on camps, cafe and retail purchases.
  •  We have created an ideal place for parents to meet new friends and become part of the local community.  Sit down with a latte or lunch from the cafe while the kids play.
  •  Potty training is not a requirement to attend Discovery Village Academy.
  •  Our center offers many other educational opportunities from afternoon enrichment classes through the Discovery Foundation to date nights, camps and coding activities.

We encourage families to schedule a time to meet with one of our teachers to learn more about our program and tour the facility. Tours can be setup by calling 253-858-4835.

We are excited to get to know you as a family. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.

Our Philosophy

The goal of Discovery Village Academy is to prepare children academically for kindergarten, provide an environment that builds both self confidence and empathy for others.  We know that children learn best through play.

Our classrooms are arranged by learning centers: blocks, dramatic play, manipulatives, language, math, science, art, sensory table, literacy, and writing. Teachers work with small groups or individuals on specific skills, such as counting or pre-writing activities.

Get Set for School is the core curriculum focusing on: Readiness and Writing, Language and Literacy, and Numbers and Math. The curriculum model incorporates traditional circle time for group instruction; topics covered during circle time vary but include age-appropriate versions of: daily duties, alphabet, calendar, weather, numbers/counting, sharing, story time, comprehension question and answer, and music. We utilize the Handwriting Without Tears program as well as the Second Step social and emotional curriculum in all of our classes.  Spanish is integrated into the core curriculum of our prekindergarten programs. We have a large indoor playground developed by PlayTime™ and a fenced outdoor playground for dramatic play and physical activity each day.
